The "Status" of Connections on the Summary Window

I"m using SQLPro for MSSQL on macOS Sierra 10.12.6.

I have several connections setup.  They are connecting to several local MSSQL servers using Windows authentication.  I have no issues connecting to the servers and the usage of the product has been excellent.

My question is why the "Status" on the connection summary window always show as a yellow icon with the text "Failed to connect to 'server name' on port XXXX."  Again, when I select to connect there are no issues.

As a side note, I have also setup connections to the same databases using SQL Server authentication and get the same visual indicator/message on the summary screen.

It's really more of a very minor, personal annoyance and I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something basic in the setup or if this was an expected result.

Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.

  • Hmm, are you specifying a port to connect to, or are you using a named instance? If you are using a named instance, it might be that the connection screen is failing to determine the proper port (tries the default and fails)?

  • Yeah, it looks like that might be it.  I'm using a named instance and I have confirmed that the actual connection is not through the default port.  I tested adding the actual confirmed port via a "," at the end of the server name, but it appears that it is still using the default for the summary check.  Out of curiosity, is there a way to change the port under this scenario to produce a "positive" result on the summary?

Thank you again for you time.
