unusual port number being used for SQL Server

I need to reach a SQL Server DB via a port that is different than the standard port with SQL Pro.

How do I configure my connection?  I tried filling out the Remote port fields in the ssh form and clicking on accept.  I also tried putting the unusual port next to the server name  in the server name field like so:  <SERVER_NAME>:<PORT>

I'm evaluating SQLPro so that I can make a purchase but if I can't connect to this db I hosed. Can you help me?

I've never tried to use your support but my email address is cruzfg@gmail.com and anything you can do for me will be extremely appreciated since I've heard that this is a very good tool for folks like me that have use sql server and work on a mac.

Thank you again,

-Gabe

  • Hey Gabe, you were very close! You can enter host, port in the server field and that will do the trick (similar to a mssql connection string). You can also use host\instancename if you happen to be connecting to an instance (this only works if the host is on your local network though as a udp broadcast is used to determine the port from instance name).

    Hope that helps!
