Hi. You will need to contact your server administrator for this as it’s a server configuration issue. SQLPro will be unable to connect until your config file has been updated appropriately.

By server administrator, did you mean the individual who set up the database, i.e: the host.
Also, is the config file not able to be updated by the methods suggested on stockoverflow such as looking for the pg_hba.conf file and edit it accordingly. Or the only antidote would be to contact the server administrator?
Jane Zhang hi. Are you using a hosted database service such as amazon rds, digital ocean, or other? If so they probably have some sort of ‘firewall’ option that you can add your up address too, or you might need to ssh into the server itself to edit the conf file. If it is a hosted service, you additionally can contact their support and ask how to edit that file.
Kyle Hankinson thanks so much for following up. The hosted database is from a 3rd party company so not amazon rds or digital ocean. So in this case, the only way to go around this is to contact them and get them to edit the pg_hba.conf file? unless we could ssh into the server ourselves, in which case I'd like to know how.
Jane Zhang there are many articles available online on how to edit the config file. One such is at https://desktop.arcgis.com/en/arcmap/latest/manage-data/gdbs-in-postgresql/configure-postgresql-accept-connections.htm. Honestly your best bet is to simply google ‘how to edit pg_hba.conf’ as they will explain it better than I can.
Kyle Hankinson thanks again Kyle. I did try out some solutions on Google such as locating the file on the terminal/looking up the file in the folder but I honestly couldn't find any. I was quite bewildered as to where is the file saves on my mac.
